Forget about the obsolete belief that sweet and liquorous wines are exclusively serviceable with foie gras and desserts. They are also perfectly suitable as aperitif or for making cocktails. The proof is in the Sweet Hours, the after-work parties regularly organized by Sweet Bordeaux, the association bringing together the eleven appellations of the Bordeaux region producing such wines.

 Wine, cocktail and tapas
Sauternes, the most famous and the most prized, but also the lesser known Cadillac, Loupiac, Saint Croix du Mont, Cerons, Barsac, Premières Côtes de Bordeaux, Côtes de Bordeaux Saint-Macaire, Bordeaux Supérieur, Sainte Foy Bordeaux and Graves Supérieurs.
Launched in 2009, these festive evenings take place in various trendy bars but all have the same features. A selection of wines from winemakers from the eleven appellations is available by the glass and by the bottle. An astonishing, refreshing and tasty cocktail made up of sweet white wine, cognac and fruits. Tapas that pair perfectly with these wines such as melon balls with Spanish ham, Swedish bread with smoked salmon, tomato crumble with fennel.

 Friendly atmosphere
Only the DJs change, but they all offer a sweet and lively music that creates a friendly, warm and relaxing atmosphere perfect for talking, meet people and make friends.
These after-works parties bring out dozens if not hundreds of participants of all ages and particularly appeal to the 25 – 40 year olds. Following their success in the Bordeaux area, Sweet Hours are now also organized in Paris, in some town of the Atlantic coast such as Biarritz, and even in Geneva, in Switzerland. Like in Bordeaux, they are held each time in a different bar on dates spanning spring, summer and fall. Enjoy your evening.
