GIVERNY, NEAR PARIS.
Through some ninety works, this exhibition traces the career of this artist nicknamed “the voluptuous painter” by Apollinaire. A friend of Matisse, he demonstrated an exceptional talent for the inventive use of colour harmonies and produced nudes, Mediterranean landscapes, family scenes and still lifes. The exhibition focuses on the period when he worked closely the Fauves.
