Playing traditional music and wearing spectacular dresses, the bands of revelers called guilds sing satire in the ancient Occitan language making fun of society and its rules. The carnival ends with the Nuit de la Blanquette when a straw effigy of the King Carnaval is burnt at the stake in the main square taking the blame for the sins people have committed during the festival.
