The exhibition “Native Forests” presents works by artists from Fang, Kota, Tsogo and Punu tribes who live in the region encompassing the Gabonese Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Southern Cameroon and the West of the Republic of Congo. Having a great wood work tradition, they produced superb sculpture linked to the Cult of Ancestors and spirit masks made of wood sometimes associated with metal. Most of the pieces on display date from the 19th century and the early 20th century.
